It is through our physical challenges that we identify in a tangible way with the incredibly steep climb to freedom so many women and children have every day. Each challenge produces prayer and finances for over 20 projects in Africa, and awareness of the injustices taking place in the world.

Machu Picchu 2017

This is such a powerful video from our Machu Picchu hike. It will give you a taste of what being part of one of our Freedom climbs is like and it shows so well why we do what we do! #FreedomChallenge #MachuPicchu17 #OurChallengeTheirFreedom

In September 2017 a group of women from all corners of the earth took on the challenge to hike to the lost city of Machu Picchu in Peru. They challenged themselves physically in order to raise a voice and awareness for those caught up in modern day slavery, also known as human trafficking. The trail traversed the high Andean plates, crossing passages as high as 4,750m - 15,585ft for an up-close view of the sacred Inca peak, Salkantay (6,280m - 20,598ft). The route then descended into the beautiful Aobamba valley with its tropical climate and vegetation. The final arrival point is at the spectacular citadel of Machu Picchu.

Through this journey, they also raised funds for our 20+ projects in Africa. These projects reach out to the most vulnerable and marginalized women and children, focusing on prevention, development, rescue, and rehabilitation.

"I had the wonderful privilege of joining the Machu Picchu Challenge in 2017. It was truly an amazing life changing experience. At the start it felt like a seemingly impossible dream but I always believed in God sized dreams. This journey really strengthened my faith in every way. God was so faithful in every step. He amazed me with His goodness, kindness , grace and mercy in every challenge I faced from raising the funds to climbing the actual mountain. When I was weak He made me strong! God is a mountain mover! I joined the challenge because I felt and urge to be a voice for the voiceless and to help try change the circumstances of those in need..not knowing that I will also forever be changed! Freedom Challenge truly changes life’s. It was amazing to be a part of something way bigger than myself."
